South side of the Nave

The art of stained glass in the United States was less than 30 years old when the first part of All Saints was built in 1884. The six windows on the south side of the nave and the five clerestory windows are all original to the building. The clerestory is the upper part of a wall containing windows to let in natural light to a building, especially in the nave of a church. The rest can be found in the parish hall which was completed on October 1, 1893 and blessed on November 1st, All Saints Day. They were installed in the parish hall as they were replaced in the church proper. These windows, all with geometric designs, are typical of non-Roman Catholic churches of the period. Given concerns over idolatry, representations of living figures were not approved of. The second commandment reads, "Thou shalt not make unto thyself any graven images".
