All Saints' story began when several Episcopal families held services in the living room of the George Hurlburt family.
1865 Our first church building, financed by Riley Brick, was erected on the corner of Clifton Ave and First St.
1868 The Baptist families organized a congregation and purchased the site of our present church on Madison Ave & Second St.
1873 The Baptist congregation traded land with us. Our original building was moved East on First Street between Lexington and Railroad Avenues, opposite Engine Company number one and is home to the Saint John African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
1884 Our church cornerstone was laid on March 24, construction was completed that Autumn and consecrated on December 19 by the Rt. Rev. John Scarborough; 4th Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey.
1891 A new chancel, north and south transepts, organ chamber, and sacristy were added; almost doubling the size of the church.
1893 The parish was incorporated. Our parish hall was completed on October 1 and the service of blessing was held on All Saints Day.
1894 The Rectory was completed; designed by Hal Allaire in the Tudor English style, and built by John Grant.
1903 The Rev. Edward Ernest Matthews, our 2nd rector, determined that more space was needed for Sunday School and other parish groups; our Parish Hall was expanded with an addition to the West (quad).

Please note the decorative trim along the top of the roof. It brings to mind Hymn 494 in our 1982 Hymnal.

"Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne"
